This is very beautiful and wholesome. I came here from a recommendation in Discord.

Also I would like to know about this tradition. Is it in Chinese culture?

It is actually a Japanese tradition, as far as I know. I got into origami back when I taught Geometry. It was a lot of fun to teach with, but, years later I found out about the thousand Cranes when I was very sick. I took on the challenge as a form of meditation and to make a wish: to get well enough to have, and see, my own child. I don’t know if I ever made it all the way to 1000 Cranes, but I did get my wish, so I felt like I needed to honor the tradition in a story at least once. https://www.japanvisitor.com/japan-house-home/senbazuru-one-thousand-cranes
